September Skies: A Tale of Two Seasons

Autumn Mist, Spring Echo

A Manet-inspired impression in olive, burgundy, and dusty blue. A horizon blurred between endings and beginnings, echoing the shift from autumn, winter to spring.

September Skies: A Tale of Two Seasons

The sky, painted in seasonal hues — reminding us that while one hemisphere blooms, another rests

As the calendar turns to September, the air tells a different story depending on where you are in the world. In South Africa, winter loosens its grip, and spring begins to bloom. The mornings are still crisp, but the afternoons carry a softness hints of warmth that speak of new beginnings. Buds stretch open, colors return, and the long exhale of nature after winter is felt in every breeze.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic in America, September marks the quiet fading of summer. The days shorten gently, the light slants lower, and the air takes on that unmistakable autumn edge. Leaves begin their slow transformation, shifting from green to gold, amber, and crimson. It’s the season of sweaters and warm drinks, a time for reflection before winter’s hush.

I find beauty in this global contrast: while one part of the world awakens, another prepares to rest. It reminds me that life is never still it cycles, balances, and finds harmony in opposites. Whether we are stepping into blossoms or into falling leaves, both seasons invite us to pause, notice the sky, and carry a quiet reverence for time’s gentle turning.

Artwork note

Autumn Mist, Spring Echo

Olive, burgundy, and dusty blue drift across the canvas in soft layers, capturing the quiet balance of change. Inspired by Manet’s impressionist sensibilities, this piece reflects the meeting point of two worlds — autumn’s hush and spring’s awakening. A horizon that blurs the line between endings and beginnings, it invites the viewer to pause, breathe, and notice the poetry in transition.

Which season do you find yourself in right now blooming spring or reflective autumn?
